Drew (Martin Hernderson) falls in love with his college classmate Julia (Piper Perabo), but she's already going with Trey (Andrew Keegan). Nevertheless Drew persists and finally wins Julia's heart. After graduating, Drew, who intends to be a successful lawyer, begs Julia to move with him to Los Angeles. Julia agrees, and gives up her ad agency job in Chicago, and the two move into a small flat in LA. While Drew gets a job at a law firm that caters to the entertainment industry, and soon makes friends with the famous actor Monty Brandt (Aaron Paul) Julia isn't as lucky at finding a job and she soon becomes disgruntled with herself. Little by little, the problems between Drew and Julia escalate until they are eventually faced with a crucial test for the young couple.
